BIOGRAPHY

 

 

Vancouver French Canadian tenor Frédérik Robert is quickly becoming one of Canada's most promising young tenors.

 

With his warm full-bodied tenor sound he has performed roles with Vancouver Opera, Calgary Opera, Edmonton Opera and Saskatoon Opera companies. He has been contracted in concert work with the Winnipeg Symphony, Regina Symphony, National Arts Center Orchestra  the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Other concert works include: Vancouver International Song Institute, Vancouver Bach Choir, Da Camera Singers, Pacific Orchestra, Chorale St. Jean, Vancouver Philharmonic, West Coast Symphony and Alberta Baroque Ensemble. 

 

Mr. Robert currently studies with the legendary soprano and voice teacher Virginia Zeani and was trained by gifted Canadian soprano and teacher, Heidi Klassen. 

 

Other collaborations include engagements with the following conductors: Jonathan Darlington, Leslie Dala, Gordon Gerrard, Earl Stafford, and Tadeusz Biernacki.

Further credits include: Eva Peron's Brother in Evita (Vancouver Opera 2016), Man 1/Tenor 1 in Sweeney Todd (Vancouver Opera 2015), Stickboy title role (Vancouver Opera workshop 2014), L’araldo reale in Don Carlos (Vancouver Opera 2014), Spoletta in Tosca (Vancouver Opera 2013), Il Duca in Rigoletto (Vancouver Concert Opera 2013), Don Jose in Carmen (VanCOCO 2012), Italian Man in Lillian Alling (Vancouver Opera 2011), 1st Armed Guard/Monostatos in Die Zauberflote & Tamino understudy (Winnipeg Symphony, National Arts Center Orchestra).

 

Frédérik spent five years as a member of both the Canadian Tenors & Romanza "L'arte del tenore" where he sang over 200 performances across North America. Mr. Robert has also performed with The Arts Club (Tony Candolino in Masterclass by Terrence McNally) and BC Living Arts (Lead Man in “Marry Me a Little” by Stephen Sondheim and Ed in the world premiere of "Dragging Piaf" a live performance of Edith Piaf songs with a film starring Frédérik).

 

Whether he is singing opera, musical theater or cabaret, Frédérik is a versatile and heartfelt vocalist.
